The Teams

When arriving at the airport the atmosphere was electric, you could cut the tension with a knife. With Coleen & Lob both with 100% records, people were hoping to seem them split up, to be with them as a lucky charm or against them to stop the incredible record they have accrued.

Whilst on the other side we had Fonz & Thommo both hoping to break their ducks (quack, quack, quack), how would the draw unfold...

The Venues

With the draw done, a delayed flight & both 100 percenters & a duck on one side, team USA commissioned operation "get Thommo a star” also code named “Stop Lob & Coleen getting 4 star's"...

Lob had put in a lot of hard work to select two courses yet to be explored by the Ryder cup contestants. The lack of course knowledge gave an even playing field for all. Who would come out on top?

Day 1: Morgado - Fourball

After a 4 hour delay and with an 1 hour drive to the course, the group faced a task and a half to get all players to the first course for Pairs day on time, but with the A-Team vans we had the edge.

We knew that even if we made the course, we had little over 4 hours of daylight left to get all 3 groups round. We made it! Now the game was on, how would the pairs results turn out...

After a 4 hour delay and 12 tired players, day 1 was off to a shakey start...

Night 1: Sully's - Cricket Darts

After some superb pair results, Team USA take a good lead into the evening picking up 4 of the 4.5 points available. They’re in good spirits. Tactics begin to take a big part in the day now with Team USA putting their strongest and weakest teams together for the darts, putting all their eggs in the one basket, will this risky strategy pay off...

Night 2: Sully's - Cricket Darts

Wow, team USA pull out all the stops to hammer home a convincing day in the singles, dominating most of the day, they only dropped 2.5 points, securing another 6 to take them to within 1 point of securing victory for 2014.

Team Europe’s stand out player of the singles day was Coleen with an amazing nearest the pin. Team Europe not to be overlooked needed to win all remaining darts & pool points left available, were they going to create the biggest come back in Carvoeiro Ryder Cup history...

When all is said and done Team USA triumphed over Europe in emphatic style. Some key performances stole the show, noticeably Geordie’s win over Lob in the Singles and Team Europe annihilation of USA on night one in the darts. But more often than not its the little moments that make the weekend what it is, so to keep those moments in the mind just keep reading.
